DTV: Digital Television

DTV stands for Digital Television, and is a digital way of transmitting television sounds and pictures in a computerised format. Now, besides the additional channels you receive with Digital TV, one of the main attractions is the interactivity that you get. This is a service where you can press a button on your television remote and get additional information on the programme you are viewing. This additional information ranges from quite mundane text for you to read, to games about the programme, behind the scenes, additional scenes, competitions and more. This additional service with Digital TVs is truly why there is no going back from digital!

If you are unsure on whether you have a digital service, you can find out simply by asking yourself one question - do I have more than five channels? If the answer is yes, then you are ready and have been receiving digital signals. If the answer is no, then you simply have to purchase a device that will enable you to receive digital signals. You can receive a digital signal by either purchasing a television that is DTV Enabled, or an external device like a Set-Top box to receive digital signals.
